Correspondence is chiefly addressed to General Francis Preston and largely concerns business and legal matters, particularly land purchases in Kentucky and sales. Other topics include salt and plaster shipments by William King and Company, a slave sale inquiry, and a legacy in Patrick Henry's will. There are references to the Abingdon Masonic lodge, the Missouri Compromise debates in Congress, and a William Henry Harrison convention in Macon, Ga. Legal and financial documents include an account of the estate of William Preston, and an indenture concerning Montgomery County land.
